In Hibernation

Have been away from the blog world for the entire duration of Winter .. has been like a hibernation .. Been too lazy and the cold winter makes the mind sluggish .. well it may not but thats how I like to think :)
In the meantime, visited the Acadia National Park in Maine for the Xmas weekend with lots of friends .. was off season to go there .. but we had fun nonetheless.
Before that, shifted residence from Quincy to Natick .. closer to my work place but a bit further off for the missus.
Bought a car .. compact one .. good for commute.. still not sure if I am going to take it around all the places I want to visit this summer ..
Had a friend of missus come to Boston for a month .. so we played host and guide for Boston .. was good to have her over .. its a a bit too cold out to really show her around Boston .. but she got the idea :)
The winters been a see-saw battle .. started strongly with chilly winds and dropping temperatures .. but just when it was expected to take an icy grip .. the mid parts of winter was strangely mild.
No snow at all and talks of a rare winter with no snow started making rounds ...
I was actually looking forward to the snow .. a year can play tricks on your mind and make you forget how difficult life becomes when its snowing .. and to top that .. I had to contend with a car this time .. additional work needs to be put in when you have a car ..
Bought shovels and ice scrapers .. tanked up on the windshield fluids and surely the snow did finally come in.
We still missed most of the snow this time .. was a mild winter in terms of snow atleast .. but just north of here .. upstate NY and upstate Vermont got a pounding .. there was a phase where oswega in upstate NY got as much as 110 inches of snow in a few days ...
we should count our lucky stars I guess :)
Winter seems to be ending finally .. it finished strong with really cold temperatures .. the Arctic winds adding to the wind chill temperatures of upto 15 below 0 F!!
But this weekend was good .. warm temperatures and sunny days .. and looks like the trends here to stay .. for now. As usual, the beginning of spring is heralding rainy skies but hope that we have a dry spring.

Tis also the eve of the World Cup .. will be interesting cos its much more open this time .. India and England look strong on paper .. Pakistan is mercurial as usual and Australia strangely does not look that strong ... don't have much of an idea about South Africa or Sri Lanka and New Zealand are the perpetual under dogs.
Quite open .. isnt it?
